Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor.

      OK: Connectors are connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    2. Check for DTC (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC is not output. 

    NG: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTC 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    2. Disconnect the C14 combination meter connector.
    3. Disconnect the C26 center airbag sensor connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      WIRE HARNESS (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C14-4 - C26-3 (LA) Below 1 Ω
      C14-4 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between the body ground and C26-3 (LA) of the center airbag sensor connector.

      Standard voltage: below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    2. Connect the C14 combination meter connector.
    3. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage between the C26-3 (LA) and body ground of the center airbag sensor connector.

      Standard voltage: 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Check operation of SRS warning light.

      OK: SRS warning light comes on.

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
