Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK DRIVER SIDE SQUIB (2ND STEP) CIRCUIT
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the steering wheel pad.
    4. Measure the resistance between the body ground and D2+ of the black connector on the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)) side between the center airbag sensor and the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)).

Standard resistance: 1 MΩ or higher

  2. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
    1. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.
    2. Using a service wire, connect D2+ and D2- of the black connector on the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)) side between the center airbag sensor and the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)).
    3. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTC stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    8. Check the DTC (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

OK: DTC B1182/19 is not output.

      HINT:

Codes other than code B1182/19 may be output at this time, but they are not relevant to this check.
