Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR OPERATION 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT:

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).

      Result 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR OPERATION

      ON/OFF Indicator Illumination Proceed to
      Always ON A
      OFF B

    B: Go to step   10 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.

      OK: The connectors are connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and the air conditioning control side or center cluster integration panel side) are not damaged.

      OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged. 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the connector to the air conditioning control or center cluster integration panel.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK: The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator ("ON" and "OFF") does not come on.

    NG: Go to step   6 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    8. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1152/28 is not output. 

      HINT:

      Codes other than code B1152/28 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

  6. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN)

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the connector from the air conditioning control.
    4. Using a service wire, connect terminals C26-1 (P-AB) and C26-25 (PAON) of connector "B".
    5. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN) (W/NAVIGATIONS SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - C28-21 (OFF) Below 1 Ω

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - A45-35 (OFF) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  7. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT)

    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: 

      w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - C28-21 (OFF) 1 MΩ or higher

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - A45-35 (OFF) 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  8. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

    1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: 

      w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      C28-21 (OFF) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      A45-35 (OFF) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  9. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage: 

      w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - Body ground Below 1 V
      C28-21 (OFF) - Body ground Below 1 V

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - Body ground Below 1 V
      A45-35 (OFF) - Body ground Below 1 V

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    NG: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY 

  10. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control.

      OK: The connectors are connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  11. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and the air conditioning control side) are not damaged.

      OK: The connectors are not deformed or damaged. 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  12. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN)

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the connector from the air conditioning control.
    4. Using a service wire, connect terminals C26-1 (P-AB) and C26-25 (PAON) of connector "B".
    5. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: 

      w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - C28-21 (OFF) Below 1 Ω

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (OPEN) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - A45-35 (OFF) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  13. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT)

    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: 

      w/Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-9 (PAON) - C28-21 (OFF) 1 MΩ or higher

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - A45-35 (OFF) 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  14. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

    1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance: 

      w/Navigation system

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      A45-35 (OFF) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  15. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage: 

      w/ Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      C28-9 (PAON) - Body ground Below 1 V
      C28-21 (OFF) - Body ground Below 1 V

      w/o Navigation system 

      PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A45-34 (PAON) - Body ground Below 1 V
      A45-35 (OFF) - Body ground Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  16. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ON/OFF INDICATOR - POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage: 

      w/Navigation system 

      WIRE HARNESS (ON/OFF INDICATOR - POWER SOURCE) VOLTAGE (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C28-8 (IG) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

      w/o Navigation system 

      WIRE HARNESS (ON/OFF INDICATOR - POWER SOURCE) VOLTAGE (W/O NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A47-22 (IG) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

      Standard resistance: 

      w/ Navigation system 

      WIRE HARNESS (ON/OFF INDICATOR - POWER SOURCE) RESISTANCE (W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)

      C28-16 (GND) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  17. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the air conditioning control.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    6. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator condition.

      OK:

    B: REPLACE CENTER CLUSTER INTEGRATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    C: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  18. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

    8. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1152/28 is not output. 

      HINT:

      Codes other than code B1152/28 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
