Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR DTC (OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
    2. Using the intelligent tester, check the DTCs of the occupant classification ECU (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC is not output. 

    NG: GO TO  INSPECTION PROCEDURE OF DTC OUTPUT  

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    4. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1150/23 is not output. 

      HINT:

      Codes other than code B1150/23 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the occupant classification ECU.

      OK: The connectors are connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the occupant classification ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      O6-12 (FSR-) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: Go to step   8 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - Body ground Below 1 V
      O6-12 (FSR-) - Body ground Below 1 V

    NG: Go to step   9 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (SHORT)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - O6-12 (FSR-) 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: Go to step   10 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  7. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (OPEN) 
    1. w/Side airbag:

      Using a service wire, connect terminals C27-1 (FSR+) and C27-2 (FSR-) of connector "B".

    2. w/o Side airbag:

      Using a service wire, connect terminals C27-3 (FSR+) and C27-10 (FSR-) of connector "B".

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU CIRCUIT (OPEN)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - O6-12 (FSR-) Below 1 Ω

    NG: Go to step   11 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  8. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO GROUND)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      O6-12 (FSR-) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

  9. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    6. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - Body ground Below 1 V
      O6-12 (FSR-) - Body ground Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

  10. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - O6-12 (FSR-) 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

  11. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
    2. Disconnect the front seat wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.
    3. Using a service wire, connect terminals BO2-1 (FSR+) and BO2-2 (FSR-) of connector "D".
      NOTE: Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OPEN)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      O6-11 (FSR+) - O6-12 (FSR-) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
