Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    2. Clear the DTC stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    5. Check the DTC (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1149/37 is output. 

      HINT:

      Codes other than code B1149/37 may be output at this time, but they are not relevant to this check.

    NG: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the front airbag sensor LH.

      OK: The connectors are connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Using a service wire, connect +SL and -SL on the A15 connector on the front airbag sensor LH side between the center airbag sensor and the front airbag sensor LH.
    2. Measure the resistance between +SL and -SL on the C26 connector on the center airbag sensor side between the front airbag sensor LH and the center airbag sensor.

      Standard resistance: Below 1 Ω

    NG: Go to step   7 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TO GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL on the C26 connector on the center airbag sensor side between the front airbag sensor LH and the center airbag sensor.

      Standard resistance: 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: Go to step   9 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TO B+) 
    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL on the C26 connector on the center airbag sensor side between the front airbag sensor LH and the center airbag sensor.

      Standard voltage: Below 1 V

    NG: Go to step   11 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    3. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.
    4. Change the front airbag sensor RH position with LH position.
    5. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    7. Clear the DTC stored in memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
    8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    9. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.
    10. Check the DTC (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1148/36 and B1149/37 not output. 

      HINT:

      Codes other than code B1149/37 or B1148/36 may be output at this time, but they are not relevant to this check.

    NG: REPLACE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH (DTC B1148/36 IS OUTPUT) 

    NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (DTC B1149/37 IS OUTPUT) 

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

  7. CHECK ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.
    2. Using a service wire, connect +SL and -SL of the A15 engine room main wire connector on the front airbag sensor LH side.
    3. Measure the resistance between +SL and -SL of the engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.

      Standard resistance: Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  8. CHECK NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 engine room wire connector from the dash wire.
    2. Using a service wire, connect +SL and -SL of the EF1 No. 2 engine room wire connector on the engine room main wire side.
    3. Measure the resistance between +SL and -SL of the IB1 No. 2 engine room wire connector on the dash wire side.

      Standard resistance: Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE DASH WIRE 

  9. CHECK ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE (TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.
    2. Measure the resistance between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL of the EF1 engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.

      Standard resistance: 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  10. CHECK NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE (TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 engine room wire connector from the dash wire.
    2. Measure the resistance between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL of the IB1 No. 2 engine room wire connector on the dash wire side.

      Standard resistance: 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE DASH WIRE 

  11. CHECK ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE (TO B+) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.
    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    6. Measure the voltage between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL of the EF1 engine room main wire connector on the center airbag sensor side.

      Standard voltage: Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  12. CHECK NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE (TO B+) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the No. 2 engine room wire connector from the dash wire.
    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    6. Measure the voltage between the body ground and each of +SL and -SL of the IB1 No. 2 engine room wire connector on the dash wire side.

      Standard voltage: Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM WIRE 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE DASH WIRE
