Reassembly (2006/01-)

CAUTION:
  • Do not use seat accessories (such as cushions or covers) that cover the front seat. Also, do not modify or replace the upholstery of the front seat. Doing so may prevent the front passenger airbag system from activating correctly, disable the system or cause the front passenger airbag to inflate accidentally, and result in death or serious injury.
  • Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seatback frame and seat adjuster may injure your hands.
  • Replace the occupant classification ECU, occupant classification sensor, seat cushion cover pad, seat cushion cover and seat cushion seat heater as a 5 part set.

HINT:

  1. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Install the airbag sensor with a new bolt.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connector.

  2. INSTALL SEAT POSITION CONTROL RELAY 
    1. Install the seat position control relay with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors.
  3. INSTALL OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (for Front Passenger Side) 
    NOTE: Replace the occupant classification ECU, occupant classification sensor, seat cushion cover pad, seat cushion cover and seat cushion seat heater as a 5 part set.
    1. Install the occupant classification ECU (see REMOVAL ).
  4. INSTALL LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the spacer to the seatback frame.
    2. Install the lumbar support with the 2 bolts.

  5. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK HEATER 
    1. Turn the seatback cover inside out.
    2. Using a tacker, install the seatback heater to the seatback cover with the tack pins.
      NOTE: Do not substitute other metal parts for the tack pins. Insufficient distance between the heater and the cover may result in damage to the heater.

      HINT:

      • Using Fig 3 for "A" and "B":

        Fasten the cover and the heater with the tack pins, matching the seam with the V slit of the heater.

      • Sewing thread can be substituted for the tack pins. However, allow a distance of 6 to 7 mm (0.24 to 0.28 in.) between both sewed parts of the heater and the cover.

    3. Thread the wires through the listing pocket.

    4. Turn the seatback cover inside out to put it back to its original position.
  6. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER 
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with new hog rings.

    2. Install the seatback cover with pad to the seatback frame.
    3. w/o Front seat side airbag:

      Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.

    4. w/Front seat side airbag:

      Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings, Then. install the clamps and the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 4.7 N*m (48 kgf*cm, 42 in.*lbf)

    5. Install the 2 headrest supports.
  7. INSTALL FRONT ARMREST ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the bush to the seatback.
    2. Install the armrest with the bolt.

      Torque: 37 N*m (380 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Install the No. 1 seat armrest cap.
  8. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK ASSEMBLY 
    1. w/o Front seat side airbag:

      Install the reclining adjuster inside shield RH with the screw.

    2. w/Front seat side airbag:

      Place the airbag connector along the inner seat adjuster, and then install the reclining adjuster inside shield with the screw so that the connector is placed in between them.

      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    3. Install the reclining adjuster inside shield LH with the screw.

    4. Install the seatback with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N*m (440 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)

    5. Using hog ring pliers, install new hog rings.
    6. Attach the hook.

    7. Connect the connectors.
  9. INSTALL OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR (for Front Passenger Side) 
    NOTE: Replace the occupant classification ECU, occupant classification sensor, seat cushion cover pad, seat cushion cover and seat cushion seat heater as a 5 part set.
    1. Install the occupant classification sensor (see REMOVAL ).
  10. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER 
    NOTE: Replace the occupant classification ECU, occupant classification sensor, seat cushion cover pad, seat cushion cover and seat cushion seat heater as a 5 part set.
    1. Turn the seat cushion cover inside out.
    2. Using a tacker, install the seat cushion heater to the seat cushion cover with the tack pins.

      NOTE: Do not substitute other metal parts for the tack pins. Insufficient distance between the heater and the cover may result in damage to the heater.

      HINT:

      • Using Fig 11 for "A" and "B":

        Fasten the cover and the heater with the tack pins, matching the seam with the V slit of the heater.

      • Using Fig 11 for "C":

        Fasten the outstretched cloth pad and the heater with the tack pins, matching the edge of the cloth pad with the V slit of the heater.

      • Sewing thread can be substituted for the tack pins. However, allow a distance of 6 to 7 mm (0.24 to 0.28 in.) between both sewed parts of the heater and the cover.

    3. Thread the wires through the listing pocket.
    4. Turn the seat cushion cover inside out to put it back to its original position.

  11. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    NOTE: Replace the occupant classification ECU, occupant classification sensor, seat cushion cover pad, seat cushion cover and seat cushion seat heater as a 5 part set.
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.

    2. Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover with pad to the seat cushion frame with new hog rings.
    3. Attach the hook.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the seat cushion to the seat adjuster with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N*m (210 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Attach the wire harness clamp.

  13. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Install the cushion shield with the screw.

  14. INSTALL SEAT TRACK LOWER RAIL PROTECTOR 
    1. Attach the claws to install the rail protector.
    2. Install the screw.

  15. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Install the cushion shield with the 3 screws.

  16. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the inner belt with the bolt.

      Torque: 42 N*m (430 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connector and attach the clamp.

  17. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 
    1. Install the lumbar support switch with the 2 screws.

    2. Install the power seat switch with the 3 screws.
    3. Connect the connectors as shown in Fig 20.

    4. Install the cushion shield with the 4 screws.

    5. Install the 2 power seat switch knobs.
  18. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK BOARD SUBASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Push the seatback board in the direction indicated by the arrow to attach the 2 hooks.

    2. Attach the 2 claws to install the seatback board.
