Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM 
    1. Check for DTCs.

    Result 

    RESULT CHART

    Result Proceed to
    No DTCs are output A
    DTCs are output B

    B: GO TO  SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for DTCs.

    Result 

    RESULT CHART

    Result Proceed to
    No DTCs are output A
    DTCs are output B

    B: GO TO  OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (P BUCKLE SW) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

    Center Airbag Sensor Assembly 

    DATA LIST - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

    Item Measurement Item / Display (Range) Normal Condition
    Passenger Buckle SW Buckle switch (Front passenger side)/
    UNSET: Front passenger side seat belt is unfastened
    SET: Front passenger side seat belt is fastened
    NG: Front passenger side seat belt is malfunctioning    		 UNSET/SET

    OK: Front seat inner belt assembly RH operates normally. 

    OK: Go to step  7

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Disconnect the J11 front seat inner belt assembly RH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (RBE-) - 2 (RBE+) Tongue plate fastened 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (RBE-) - 2 (RBE+) Tongue plate unfastened Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the front seat inner belt assembly RH connector.

    NG: REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the J24 occupant classification ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the J11 front seat inner belt assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      J24-9 (BSW) - J11-2 (RBE+) Below 1 Ω
      J24-9 (BSW) or J11-2 (RBE+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      J24-5 (BGND) - J11-1 (RBE-) Below 1 Ω
      J24-5 (BGND) or J11-1 (RBE-)-Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the occupant classification ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the front seat inner belt assembly connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the J9 center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J24 occupant classification ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      J9-12 (FSP+) - J24-8 (FSR+) Below 1 Ω
      J9-12 (FSP+) or J24-8 (FSR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      J9-13 (FSP-) - J24-4 (FSR-) Below 1 Ω
      J9-13 (FSP-) or J24-4 (FSR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the occupant classification ECU connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU 

  7. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (P-BELT REMIND) 
    1. Operate a Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".

    Combination Meter Assembly 

    ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE

    Item Test Details
    Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Front passenger seat belt warning light / OFF or ON

    OK: Front passenger seat belt warning light comes on. 

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  8. INSPECT FUSE (GAUGE) 
    1. Remove the GAUGE fuse from the main body ECU.
    2. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance: 

      Below 1 Ω 

    3. Reinstall the GAUGE fuse.

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  9. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Hatchback:
      1. Remove the front passenger seat belt warning light.
      2. Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the indicator illuminates.

        Standard 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        Positive battery - Terminal 6 (IG+)
        Negative battery - Terminal 3 (PBEW)        		 Illuminates
      3. Reinstall the front passenger seat belt warning light.

    2. Sedan:
      1. Remove the hazard warning signal switch assembly.
      2. Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the indicator illuminates.

        Standard 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        Positive battery - Terminal 6 (IG+)
        Negative battery - Terminal 8 (PBEW)        		 Illuminates
      3. Reinstall the hazard warning signal switch assembly.

    NG: REPLACE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUSE - FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT) 
    1. Hatchback:
      1. Disconnect the D27 front passenger seat belt warning light connector.
      2. Disconnect the 4S main body ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        4S-15 - D27-6 (IG+) Below 1 Ω
        4S-15 or D27-6 (IG+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the front passenger seat belt warning light connector.
      5. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    2. Sedan:
      1. Disconnect the D77 hazard warning signal switch assembly connector.
      2. Disconnect the 4S main body ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        4S-15 - D77-6 (IG+) Below 1 Ω
        4S-15 or D77-6 (IG+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the hazard warning signal switch assembly connector.
      5. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Hatchback:
      1. Disconnect the D2 combination meter assembly connector.
      2. Disconnect the D27 front passenger seat belt warning light connector.
      3. Measure the resistance.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        D2-9 - D27-3 (PBEW) Below 1 Ω
        D2-9 or D27-3 (PBEW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
      5. Reconnect the front passenger seat belt warning light connector.

    2. Sedan:
      1. Disconnect the D76 combination meter assembly connector.
      2. Disconnect the D77 hazard warning signal switch assembly connector.
      3. Measure the resistance.

        Standard resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        D76-9 - D77-8 (PBEW) Below 1 Ω
        D76-9 or D77-8 (PBEW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
      5. Reconnect the hazard warning signal switch assembly connector.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
