Inspection Procedure

HINT:

• Perform the simulation method by selecting CHECK MODE (signal check) with the Techstream (See CHECK MODE PROCEDURE  ).
• After selecting CHECK MODE (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).

1. CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB) 

   SST 09843-18060 

   1. Turn the ignition switch off.
   2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery and wait for at least 90 seconds.
   3. Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag assembly RH.
   4. Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance 2.1 Ω) to connector C.
      CAUTION: Never connect a tester to the curtain shield airbag assembly RH (front passenger side curtain shield squib) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.
      NOTE:

      • Do not forcibly insert the SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
      • Insert the SST straight into the terminals of the connector.

   5. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery and wait for at least 2 seconds.
   6. Turn the ignition switch on and wait for at least 60 seconds.
   7. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
   8. Turn the ignition switch off.
   9. Turn the ignition switch on and wait for at least 60 seconds.
   10. Check the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

       OK: DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 and 58 are not output. 

       HINT:

       DTCs other than DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838and 58 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

   OK: REPLACE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH 

   NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

2. CHECK CONNECTOR 
   1. Turn the ignition switch off.
   2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery and wait for at least 90 seconds.
   3. Disconnect the SST from connector C.
   4. Check that the floor wire connector (on the curtain shield assembly RH side) is not damaged.

      OK: The lock button is not disengaged and the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged. 

   NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

   OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB CIRCUIT) 
   1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly.
   2. Check for short to B+ in the circuit.
      1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery and wait for at least 2 seconds.
      2. Turn the ignition switch on.
      3. Measure the voltage.

         Standard voltage 

         TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

   3. Check for open in the circuit.
      1. Turn the ignition switch off.
      2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery and wait for at least 90 seconds.
      3. Measure the resistance.

         Standard resistance

   4. Check for short to ground in the circuit.
      1. Measure the resistance.

   5. Check for short in the circuit.
      1. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).
      2. Measure the resistance.

         Standard resistance 

         TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

         J22-1 (ICR+) - J22-2 (ICR-)	Always	1 MΩ or higher

   NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

   OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
   1. Connect the connectors to the curtain shield airbag assembly RH and the center airbag sensor assembly.
   2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery and wait for at least 2 seconds.
   3. Turn the ignition switch on and wait for at least 60 seconds.
   4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
   5. Turn the ignition switch off.
   6. Turn the ignition switch on and wait for at least 60 seconds.
   7. Check the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      OK: DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 and 58 are not output. 

      HINT:

      DTCs other than DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 and 58 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

   NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

   OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
