How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

  1. START 
    1. Preliminary check
      • Tire pressure
      • Vehicle height
      • Brake dragging
  2. ROAD TEST 
    1. Select a flat road where the vehicle can be driven in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Please confirm safety and set the steering wheel to its straight position. Drive the vehicle in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph) without holding the steering wheel.

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Vehicle Condition
      Vehicle can keep straight but the steering wheel has some angle Steering off center
      Vehicle cannot keep straight Steering pull
    2. Does the vehicle lead/pull?

      NO: GO TO step   8

      YES: GO TO next step. 

  3. ARE TIRES UNI-DIRECTIONAL TYPE? 

    NO: GO TO step   10

    YES: GO TO next step. 

  4. IS FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT IT WITHIN SPECIFICATION? 

    NO: GO TO step   19

    YES: GO TO next step. 

  5. DOES VEHICLE LEAD/PULL TO LEFT? 

    NO: GO TO step   16

    YES: GO TO next step. 

  6. INCREASE RIGHT FRONT CAMBER AND DECREASE LEFT FRONT CAMBER UNTIL LEAD/PULL IS ELIMINATED 
  7. ROAD TEST 
    1. Select a flat road where the vehicle can be driven in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Please confirm safety and set the steering wheel to its straight position. Drive the vehicle in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph) without holding the steering wheel.

      Result

    2. Does the vehicle lead/pull?

      NO: COMPLETE

  8. IS STEERING OFF CENTER? 

    NO: COMPLETE 

    YES: GO TO next step. 

  9. ADJUST FRONT TIE RODS 

    NEXT: GO TO step   2

  10. INTERCHANGE FRONT TIRE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY (LEFT AND RIGHT) 
  11. ROAD TEST 
    1. Select a flat road where the vehicle can be driven in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Please confirm safety and set the steering wheel to its straight position. Drive the vehicle in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph) without holding the steering wheel.

  12. DOES VEHICLE LEAD/PULL IN SAME DIRECTION AS BEFORE? 

    YES: GO TO step   18

    NO: GO TO next step. 

  13. IS LEAD/PULL STRONGER THAN BEFORE? 

    NO: GO TO step   5

  14. REVERSE THE FRONT LEFT SIDE TIRE AND REBALANCE IT 
  15. ROAD TEST 
    1. Select a flat road where the vehicle can be driven in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Please confirm safety and set the steering wheel to its straight position. Drive the vehicle in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph) without holding the steering wheel.

      Result

  16. INCREASE LEFT FRONT CAMBER AND DECREASE RIGHT FRONT CAMBER UNTIL LEAD/PULL IS ELIMINATED 
  17. ROAD TEST 
    1. Select a flat road where the vehicle can be driven in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph). Please confirm safety and set the steering wheel to its straight position. Drive the vehicle in a straight line for 100 m (325 ft.) at a constant speed of 56 km/h (35 mph) without holding the steering wheel.
