Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2111 OR P2112) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the CAN VIM. Then connect the CAN VIM to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
    4. Read the DTCs.

    Result 

    RESULT CHART

    Display (DTC output) Proceed to
    P2111 or P2112 A
    P2111 or P2112 and other DTCs B

    HINT:

    If any DTCs other than P2111 or P2112 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    B:  GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  2. CHECK THROTTLE BODY (VISUALLY CHECK THROTTLE VALVE) 
    1. Check for foreign matter between the throttle valve and housing. If necessary, clean the throttle body. Also, check that the throttle valve moves smoothly.

    OK: No foreign matter between the throttle valve and the housing, and throttle valve can move smoothly. 

    NG: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2111 OR P2112) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the CAN VIM. Then connect the CAN VIM to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.
    3. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
    4. Start the engine, and depress and release the accelerator pedal quickly (fully open and close the throttle valve).
    5. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
    6. Read DTC.

    Result

    B: REPLACE ECM 

    A: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEM
