Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLU)
    1. Disconnect the E1 wire connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the transmission wire.

      Standard resistance

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      13(SLU+) - 5(SLU-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      13(SLU+) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SLU-) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: GO TO step   3

      OK: GO TO Next Step

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)
    1. Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E6-15(SLU+) - E6-14 (SLU-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      E6-15(SLU+) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kΩ or higher
      E6-14 (SLU-) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

      OK: REPLACE ECM

  3. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLU
    1. Remove the shift solenoid valve SLU.
    2. Measure the resistance of the solenoid valve.

      Standard resistance: 5.0 to 5.6 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

    3. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid body.

    OK: Solenoid makes operating noise.

NG: REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLU
