Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER (MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the items below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check the main body ECU operation.

      Main body ECU 

      ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE (MAIN BODY ECU)

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      ILLUMI OUTPUT Test Details:
      Turn interior light and key illumination ON/OFF
      Vehicle Condition:
      Interior light SW is in DOOR position and all doors are closed
      -

      OK: Light comes on. 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  2. INSPECT FUSE (DOME) 
    1. Remove the DOME fuse from the engine room No. 2 relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance of the fuse.

      Standard resistance: 

      Below 1 Ω 

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  3. INSPECT ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the room light assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance of the room light switch base.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2
      1 - 3
      OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 DOOR Below 1 Ω
      1 - 3 ON Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  4. INSPECT ROOM LIGHT BULB 
    1. Remove the room light assembly.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the DOOR position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the ON position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    NG: REPLACE BULB 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - ROOM LIGHT AND MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the IK instrument panel junction block connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      IK-2 (ILE) - Body ground Room light switch in DOOR position 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  6. INSPECT MAP LIGHT BULB 
    1. Remove the map light assembly.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the DOOR position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the ON position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    OK: Go to step   8 

    NG: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  7. INSPECT MAP LIGHT 
    1. Replace the map light bulb with a normally functioning one or a new one.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the DOOR position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 7, then check that the light comes on when the switch is in the ON position.

      OK: Light comes on. 

    NG: REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    OK: REPLACE MAP LIGHT BULB 

  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BATTERY - MAP LIGHT AND MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the IK instrument panel junction block connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      IK-2 (ILE) - Body ground Room light switch in DOOR position 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  9. INSPECT IGNITION KEY CYLINDER LIGHT 
    1. w/Engine Immobilizer System
      1. Remove the transponder key amplifier (ignition key cylinder light).
      2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 6, then check that the light comes on.

        OK: Light comes on. 

    2. w/o Engine Immobilizer System
      1. Remove the ignition key cylinder light.
      2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, then check that the light comes on.

        OK: Light comes on. 

    NG: REPLACE IGNITION KEY CYLINDER LIGHT 

    OK: Go TO NEXT STEP. 

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BATTERY - MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the IE instrument panel junction block connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IE-27 (ILE) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK
