TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL (for LH Side): Replacement

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain ATF.
2. Install a new gasket and drain plug.
  Torque: 47 N*m (479 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)
DRAIN TRANSAXLE OIL
1. Remove the filler plug and gasket.
2. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.
3. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
  Torque: 39 N*m (398 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf)
DRAIN TRANSFER OIL
1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.
2. Install a new gasket and drain plug.
  Torque: 39 N*m (398 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf)
REMOVE PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See PROPELLER SHAFT )
REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
1. Remove the 3 bolts and mounting bracket.

REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the automatic transaxle (see appropriate step(s) under REMOVAL ).
REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the 2 bolts, 6 nuts and transfer from the manual transaxle.

REMOVE TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL
1. Using SST, tap out the transfer case oil seal.

INSTALL TRANSFER CASE OIL SEAL
1. Coat a new oil seal lip with MP grease.
2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the transfer case oil seal.
  SST 09316-60011 (09316-00011)
  
  Standard depth: 9.5 to 10.5 mm (0.37 to 0.41 in.)
  
  NOTE: Do not damage the oil seal lip.

INSTALL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
1. Install the transfer with the 6 nuts and 2 bolts.
  Torque: 69 N*m (700 kgf*cm, 51 ft.*lbf)

INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
1. Install automatic transaxle (see appropriate step(s) under INSTALLATION ).
INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
1. Install the mounting bracket with the 3 bolts.
  Torque: 45 N*m (459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf)

INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See PROPELLER SHAFT )
ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID )
ADD TRANSFER OIL
INSPECT TRANSFER OIL (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
1. Check the SRS warning light (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
