On-Vehicle Inspection

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
REMOVE HEATER RELAY
1. Remove the heater main relay from the engine room relay block.

CHECK HEATER RELAY (Marking: HTR)

Check the continuity of the relay.

Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

Condition	Tester Connection	Specified Condition
Always	3 - 4	10 kΩ or higher
Always	3 - 5	Below 1 Ω
Apply B+ between terminals 1 and 2	3 - 4	Below 1 Ω
Apply B+ between terminals 1 and 2	3 - 5	10 kΩ or higher

If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.

INSTALL HEATER RELAY
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
PERFORM INITIALIZATION
1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
  NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
