Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
    1. Remove the A/C amplifier with the connectors still connected.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Press the REC/FRS switch to change air inlet between fresh and recirculation air, and measure the voltage between terminals TPI (A46-14) and FRSG (A46-18) of the A/C amplifier when the air inlet servomotor operates.

      Standard voltage

      STANDARD VOLTAGE REFERENCE

      FRS-REC Switch Standard Condition
      REC 3.5 to 4.5 V
      FRS 0.5 to 1.5 V

      HINT:

      • As the air inlet servomotor is moved from REC side to FRS side, the voltage decreases.
      • However, if DTC 32 or 42 is displayed, check and replace the A/C amplifier.

    OK: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP

  2. CHECK AIR INLET DAMPER POSITION SENSOR
    1. Remove the air inlet servomotor.
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals GND (1) and PT (3) of the air inlet damper control servomotor connector.

Standard resistance: 4.2 to 7.8 kΩ

    3. While operating AIR INLET DAMPER CONTROL SERVOMOTOR , follow the procedure on and measure the resistance between terminals GND (1) and PT (3) of the air inlet servomotor connector.

      Standard resistance

      STANDARD RESISTANCE REFERENCE

      Damper Position Standard Condition
REC side 3.1 to 5.8 kΩ
FRS side 0.8 to 1.6 kΩ

      HINT:

As the air inlet servomotor moves from REC side to FRS side, the resistance decreases.

    NG: REPLACE AIR INLET SERVOMOTOR

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AIR INLET DAMPER POSITION SENSOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
