Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
    1. Shift the shift lever (M/T) or transmission gear selector lever (A/T) to the neutral position.
    2. Jack up the vehicle.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Check the voltage while turning the wheel slowly.

      HINT:

The output voltage should fluctuate up and down as shown in the diagram on the left when the wheel is turning slowly.

OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    NG: Go to next step

  2. CHECK TRANSAXLE TYPE
    1. Check the vehicle's transaxle type.

  3. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR
    1. Remove the speed sensor.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative(-) lead to terminal 2.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the tester to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
    4. Rotate the shaft.
    5. Check that the voltage output between terminals 2 and 3 varies between 0V and 11V.
