Front Brake Pad, Brake Caliper & Brake Rotor: Disassembly
- REMOVE FRONT BRAKE PAD
- Remove the 2 anti-squeal springs.
- Remove the 2 brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
- REMOVE FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
- Remove the 2 front anti-squeal shims and the 2 pad wear indicators from each pad.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
- Remove the 4 front disc brake pad support plates.NOTE: Each front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each front disc brake pad support plate so that they can be reinstalled to their original position.
- Remove the 4 front disc brake pad support plates.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
- Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting.
- REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
- Remove the No. 1 front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
- REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
- Remove the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSHING
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.NOTE: Do not damage the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the No. 2 front disc brake cylinder slide pin.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT
- Remove the 2 front disc brake bushing dust boots from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
- REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT
- Using a screwdriver, remove the cylinder boot.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the brake piston and cylinder.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the cylinder boot.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PISTON
- Prepare a wooden block to hold the piston.WOODEN BLOCK DIMENSION
A 170 mm (6.70 in.) B 50 mm (1.97 in.) C 30 mm (1.18 in.) - Place the wooden block between the front disc brake piston and the disc brake cylinder assembly.
- Use compressed air to remove the front disc brake piston from the disc brake cylinder assembly.CAUTION: Do not place your fingers in front of the front disc brake piston when using compressed air.NOTE: Do not spatter the brake fluid.
- Prepare a wooden block to hold the piston.
- REMOVE PISTON SEAL
- Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the disc brake cylinder assembly.NOTE: Do not damage the inner cylinder or cylinder groove.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the disc brake cylinder assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG CAP
- Remove the front disc brake bleeder plug cap.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG
- REMOVE FRONT DISC
- Remove the front disc.
HINT:
Put matchmarks on the disc and the axle hub.
- Remove the front disc.
