Inspection Procedure

HINT:

If there is an open or short in the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit, the hybrid vehicle control ECU outputs the DTCs. Perform troubleshooting with the "SFI System" (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Operate the intelligent tester according to the steps on the display and select "ACTIVE TEST".

      METER 

      ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE CHART

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      COOLANT TEMP LOW/NORMAL/HI -

      OK: Needle indication is normal. 

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  2. READ VALUE ON INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Operate the intelligent tester according to the steps on the display and select "DATA LIST".

      HV ECU 

      DATA LIST REFERENCE CHART

      WATER TEMP Engine coolant temp.: -40°C (-40°F) to 140°C (284°F) After warming up: 80 to 95°C (176 to 203°F) -

      OK: Needle indication is normal. 

    NG: GO TO SFI SYSTEM

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    NG: GO TO  SFI SYSTEM

    OK: END
