Tire And Wheel System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT TIRE 
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Cold tire inflation pressure 

      TIRE SPECIFICATION

      Tire Size Front kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi) Rear kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi)
      215/60R16 94 V  200 (2.0, 29) 200 (2.0, 29)
      215/55R17 93 V  220 (2.2, 32) 220 (2.2, 32)
    2. Using a dial indicator, check the tire runout.

      Tire runout: 

      1.4 mm (0.055 in.) or less

  2. ROTATE TIRES 
    1. Rotate the tires as shown in illustration (B). If the vehicle is equipped with a grand spare tire, rotate the tires as shown in illustration (A).

  3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE 
    1. Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.
    2. If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance.

      Imbalance after adjustment: 

      8.0 g (0.018 lb) or less

  4. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  6. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
