Parking Brake Assembly: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH.

      HINT:

      Do not disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake caliper assembly LH.

  3. REMOVE REAR DISC 
    1. Release the parking brake.
    2. Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub.

    3. Remove the rear disc.

      HINT:

      If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns freely.

  4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION NO. 1 SPRING 
    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 2 parking brake shoe return tension No. 1 springs.

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT LH 
    1. Remove the parking brake shoe strut LH and parking brake shoe strut compression spring.
  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE 
    1. Release the spring cup claw and remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.

    3. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 from the shoe lever.
    4. Remove the parking brake shoe return tension No. 2 spring and adjusting screw set from the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly.
    5. Remove the 2 hold down compression springs, parking brake shoe hold down spring No. 1 cup and parking brake shoe hold down spring No. 2 cup.
    6. Remove the parking brake shoe hold down spring No. 1 pin and parking brake shoe hold down spring No. 2 pin.
    7. Using a screwdriver, remove the C-washer.

    8. Remove the shim and shoe lever from the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH.
  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE GUIDE PLATE 
    1. Remove the parking brake shoe guide plate set bolt and the parking brake shoe guide plate.
