Inspection Procedure
NOTE:
When replacing the ABS & TRACTION actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see
CALIBRATION ).
- INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT
WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
- Select the "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light by the hand-held tester.ACTIVE TEST
Item Vehicle Condition / Test Details Diagnostic Note ABS WARN LIGHT Turns ABS warning light ON / OFF Observe combination meter - Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.
OK: The ABS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the hand-held tester.
WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:
- Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
- Ground terminal WA of the skid control ECU.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Check the ABS warning light.
OK:

- NG: Go to step 2
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
- Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and combination meter connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER TERMINAL RESISTANCETester Connection Specified Condition C9-37-S1-29(WA) Below 1 Ω - Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINALS AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCETester Connection Specified Condition S1-29(WA)- Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Check combination meter assy (see COMBINATION METER ).
- NG: CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
