Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.

      HINT:

      Check the stop lamp bulb because it may be burnt out.

      OK: Stop lamp switch function is normal. 

    1. NG: Go to step   3 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (STP TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE  .

      Standard: 

      SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S1-14 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal is depressed 10 to 14 V
      S1-14 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal is released Below 1 V

    1. NG: Go to step   4 
    2. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the stop lamp switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in STOP LAMP SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE  .

      Standard: 

      STOP LAMP SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Switch pin free 1 - 2 1 Ω or less
      Switch pin pushed in 1 - 2 10 k Ω or higher (No continuity)

    1. NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(STOP LAMP SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the stop lamp switch connector and skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in STOP LAMP SWITCH AND SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINALS RESISTANCE  .

      Standard: 

      STOP LAMP SWITCH AND SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-14 (STP) - S9-1 (STP) Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINALS AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCE  .
      SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINALS AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-14 (STP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR(STP CIRCUIT) 
    2. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
