Inspection Procedure
- CHECK SYSTEM SYSTEM CHECK
Light illumination level does not change A Tail cancel switch does not operate. B Light illumination level does not change and tail cancel switch does not operate. A - B: Go to step 5
- A: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT (TAIL, +B, GND)
- Disconnect the R7 connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition R7-2 - Body ground Headlight Dimmer Switch OFF --> TAIL Below 1 V --> 10 to 14 V R7-6 - Body ground Always 10 to V - Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition R7-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
- NG; REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT (TC, LED)
- Check signal wave form.
- Remove the light control rheostat with connector still connected.
- Check the signal wave form according to the condition (s) in the table below.
Standard:

HINT: Duty ratio changes as illumination becomes darker ("A" becomes longer).
- Disconnect the R7 connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition R7-2 - R7-8 Tail cancel position (rheostat knob is fully turned up) --> Non-tail cancel position 10 kΩ or higher --> Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Check signal wave form.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT - COMBINATION METER ASSY) (SEE HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
)
- Disconnect the C9, C16 and R7 connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition C9-28 - R7-5 Always Below 1 Ω C16-9 - R7-8 Always Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- Disconnect the R7 connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition R7-2 - R7-8 Tail cancel position (rheostat knob is fully turned up) --> Non-tail cancel position 10 kΩ or higher --> Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPLACE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT - COMBINATION METER ASSY) (SEE HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
)
- Disconnect the C19 and R7 connectors.
- Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester connection Condition Specified Condition C16-9 - R7-8 Always Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE COMBINATION METER ASSY )
