OBD II scan tool (excluding the hand-held tester):

- INSPECT ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSY (FOR VVTL)
- Disconnect the oil pressure switch for VVTL (Variable Valve Timing and Lift) connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check the resistance between the oil pressure switch and body ground.
Standard: 10 kΩ or higher
- Reconnect the oil pressure switch
- NG: REPLACE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSY
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OIL PRESSURE SWITCH FOR VVTL - ECM)
- Disconnect the 02 oil pressure switch connector.
- Disconnect the E5 ECM connector.
- Check the resistance.
Standard (Check for open):
OIL PRESSURE SWITCH FOR VVTL - ECM RESISTANCE (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connections Specified Conditions Oil pressure switch (O2-1) - OSW (E5-31) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
OIL PRESSURE SWITCH FOR VVTL - ECM RESISTANCE (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connections Specified Conditions Oil pressure switch (O2-1) or OSW (E5-31) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER
- Remove the OCV filter.
- Check the OCV filter.
- Confirm that the filter is not contaminated.
- Place a new gasket on the bolt, and reinstall the filter.
Torque: 29 N.m (300 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
- NG: REPLACE OIL CONTROL VALVE FILTER
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- INSPECT OPERATION OF OCV (FOR VVTL)
- Start the engine.
- Check the engine speed twice in each of conditions (1) and (2), as described below:
- Disconnect the C2 camshaft timing OCV connector.
- Apply the positive battery voltage between the terminals of the camshaft timing OCV.
Result:
