Hand-held tester:
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
HINT:
It is possible to check the pressure in the secondary air passage using a hand-held tester.
- CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2444 AND/OR P2445)
- Connect a hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester ON.
- Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
- Read DTCs.
Result:
DTC OUTPUT RESULTDisplay (DTC output) Proceed To P2444 and/or P2445 A P2444 and/or P2445, and other DTCs B HINT:
If any DTCs other than P2444 and/or P2445 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER (VSV FOR SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM)
- Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester ON.
- Start the engine.
- On the tester, select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / SECOND AIR VSV / ALL or USER DATA.NOTE: When selecting USER DATA, select SECONDARY AIR and SECOND AIR VSV on the tester screen by pressing the YES button on the tester.
HINT:
When the Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) of the secondary air system is operated, the air pump operates simultaneously.
- Check that the SECONDARY AIR, SECOND AIR VSV and 2ND AIR PRESS, displayed on the tester, indicate the conditions shown in the table below.NOTE: This test only allows technicians to operate the VSV for 5 seconds. If the test is repeated, intervals of at least 30 seconds are required between tests.VSV FOR SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM INSPECTION
Tester Operations SECONDARY AIR ((1)) SECOND AIR VSV ((2)) VSV: ON ON ON VSV: OFF OFF OFF (1) Denotes the signal transmitted by the ECM to operate the air pump. (2) Denotes the signal transmitted by the ECM to operate the VSV. HINT:
