Hand-held tester:: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. READ VALUE USING HAND-HELD TESTER (THROTTLE VALVE OPENING PERCENTAGE)
    1. Connect a hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester ON
    3. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST/ ETCS /THROTTLE POS.
    4. Read the value displayed on the tester when the accelerator pedal is released and depressed.

      Result:

      THROTTLE VALVE OPENING ANGLE

Throttle Valve Opening Angle (%) Proceed To
      0 (constant) A
      From approximately 0 to 75 B
      Approximately 100 (constant) C

    2. C: Go to step   4
    3. A: GO TO NEXT STEP
  2. INSPECT THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
    1. Disconnect the T1 Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the TP sensor.

      Standard:

      THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE

Tester Connections Throttle Valve Positions Specified Conditions
      VC (T1-2)-E2 (T1-1)   Between 2.5 kΩ and 5.9 kΩ
VTA (T1-3)-E2 (T1-1) Fully closed Between 0.2 kΩ and 5.7 kΩ
VTA (T1-3)-E2 (T1-1) Fully open Between 2.0 kΩ and 10.2 kΩ
    3. Reconnect the TP sensor connector.
