Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK CLOCK ASSY
    1. Remove the clock assy with the connector still connected.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between terminals 2 (SG) and 3 (TH+) of the clock assy connector at each temperature.

      Standard:

      at 25°C (77°F): 1.3 V

      at 40°C (104°F): 0.8 V

    HINT:

As the temperature increases, the voltage decreases.

OK: REPLACE CLOCK ASSY (See step 4 on  REPLACEMENT  )

    NG: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT COOLER (AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR
    1. Disconnect the cooler (ambient temp. sensor) thermistor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the cooler (ambient temp. sensor) thermistor connector at each temperature.

      Standard:

      at 25°C (77°F): 1.6 kΩ

      at 40°C (104°F): 0.9 kΩ

    HINT:

As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.

NG: REPLACE COOLER (AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR

OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
