Rear Seat ASSY: Overhaul

HINT:

• The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
• A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (SEE SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).

1. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
   1. Pull up the 2 front portions of the seat cushion.
      NOTE: The cushion frame deforms easily. To avoid deforming the seat cushion, place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration, and then pull the seat cushion upward. Repeat for the other hook. 
   2. Push down on the seat cushion and pull it towards the front of the vehicle to release the hook. Then remove the seat cushion.

2. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY RH 
   1. Remove the bolt and rear seat belt floor anchor.
   2. Open the front part of the rear floor deck board No. 1
   3. Fully fold the seatback forward.
   4. Remove the 2 bolts and seatback.

3. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY LH 
   1. Open the front part of the rear floor deck board No. 1.
   2. Fully fold the seatback forward.
   3. Remove the 2 bolts and seatback.

4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
6. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSY RH 
   1. Remove the bolt and side seatback.
7. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSY LH 
   1. Remove the bolt and side seatback.
8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY RH 
   1. Remove the bolt and hinge.
9. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY LH 
   1. Remove the bolt and hinge.
10. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY CENTER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and hinge.

11. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Remove the 51 hog rings and cushion cover from the cushion pad.

12. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 headrests.
13. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY CENTER 
14. REMOVE REAR SEAT ARMREST ASSY CENTER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the armrest hinge cover.

       HINT:

       Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the bolt and armrest.

15. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK COVER RH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws labeled A.

       HINT:

       Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Pull the shoulder belt cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to disengage the 2 claws labeled B. Then, remove the shoulder belt cover.
    3. Remove the rear seatback lock release button.
    4. Remove the 2 screws and shoulder belt guide.
    5. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the seatback stop button grommet.

       HINT:

       When performing this step, position yourself between the seatback frame and the seatback cover with pad.

    6. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 rear seatback covers.

       HINT:

       Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    7. Using a clip remover, remove the 9 clips.
       NOTE: If clips are damaged during removal, replace them.

    8. Lift up the seatback cover and remove the 14 hog rings.
    9. Remove the 4 headrest supports.
    10. Remove the seatback cover (with pad) from the seatback frame.

    11. Remove the 14 hog rings and seatback cover from the seatback pad.

16. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK COVER LH 
    1. Remove the rear seatback lock release button.
    2. Remove the 2 screws and shoulder belt guide.
    3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the seatback stop button grommet.

       HINT:

       When performing this step, position yourself between the seatback frame and the seatback cover (with pad).

    4. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear seatback cover.

       HINT:

       Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. Using a clip remover, remove the 7 clips.
       NOTE: If clips are damaged during removal, replace them  .

    6. Lift up the seatback cover and remove the 12 hog rings.
    7. Remove the 2 headrest supports.
    8. Remove the seatback cover (with pad) from the seatback frame.

    9. Remove the 6 hog rings and seatback cover from the seatback pad.

17. REMOVE REAR SEAT BELT ASSY OUTER CENTER 
    1. Remove the bolt and belt.
18. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK LOCK ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and lock.

19. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK LOCK ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and lock.

20. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK LOCK ASSY RH 
    1. Install the lock with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 18.1 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

21. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK LOCK ASSY LH 
    1. Install the lock with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 18.1 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

22. INSTALL REAR SEAT BELT ASSY OUTER CENTER 
    1. Install the seat belt with the bolt.

       Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

23. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK COVER RH 
    NOTE:

    • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible. 
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with 14 new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the seatback frame.
    3. Install the 4 headrest supports.
    4. Using hog ring pliers, install 14 new hog rings.
    5. Install the 9 clips.
    6. Install the 2 rear seatback covers.
    7. Install the seatback stop button grommet.
    8. Install the shoulder belt guide with the 2 screws.
    9. Install the shoulder belt cover.
    10. Install the rear seatback lock release button.

24. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK COVER LH 
    NOTE:

    • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible. 
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with 6 new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover (with pad) to the seatback frame.
    3. Install the 2 headrest supports.
    4. Using hog ring pliers, install 12 new hog rings.
    5. Install the 7 clips.
    6. Install the rear seatback cover.
    7. Install the seatback stop button grommet.
    8. Install the shoulder belt guide with the 2 screws.
    9. Install the rear seatback lock release button.
25. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Using hog ring pliers, install the cushion cover to the cushion pad with 51 new hog rings.
    NOTE:

    • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
    • When installing the hog rings, minimize wrinkles as much as possible. 
26. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY CENTER 
    1. Install the hinge with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 18.1 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

27. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY RH 
    1. Install the hinge with the bolt.

       Torque: 18.1 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

28. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Install the hinge with the bolt.

       Torque: 18.1 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

29. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSY RH 
    1. Install the seatback with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 36.8 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    2. Install the rear seat belt floor anchor with the bolt.

       Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

30. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSY LH 
    1. Install the seatback with the 2 bolts.

       Torque: 36.8 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

31. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
    1. Attach the seat cushion's rear hooks to the seatback hinge sub-assy center.
    2. Insert the inner belts through the slits on the seat cushion.

    3. Attach the 2 seat cushion's front hooks to the rear seat cushion lock hooks.

    HINT:

    Confirm that the seat cushion is firmly installed.
