Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt and front seat inner belt.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    CAUTION:
    • Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
    • Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system and front seat outer belt assembly.
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the shoulder anchor cover.

      HINT:

      ([a-z]+) the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt (shoulder anchor side).
    3. Using screwdriver, remove the floor anchor cover.
    4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt assembly RH (floor anchor side).

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. To disconnect the pretensioner connector: 1) horizontally pull out the lock part of the connector as indicated by the black arrow in the illustration, and 2) remove the connector.
    6. Remove the 2 bolts and front seat outer belt assembly RH.

  10. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  11. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Remove the bolt and front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Install the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    1. Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
      1. Gently tilt the ELR and pull the belt. Check that the belt will not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions. Then check that the belt will lock when over 45° of tilt is applied.

      If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

    2. Install the retractor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 

      4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf) for upper bolt 

      41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) for lower bolt 

    3. Install the shoulder anchor with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the shoulder anchor cover.
    5. Install the floor anchor with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

    6. Install the floor anchor cover.
    7. After installing the ELR, check the ELR.
      NOTE: The check should be perform with the assembly installed.
      1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.

      If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

  14. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Install the front seat inner belt RH with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
