Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Check speed sensor (NT).

    PREPARATION:

Remove the NT speed sensor from the transaxle.

    CHECK:

    1. Measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of speed sensor.

    2. Check voltage between terminals 1 and 2 of the speed sensor when a magnet is put close to the front end of the speed sensor then taken away quickly.

    OK:

    1. (a) Resistance: 560 to 680 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
    2. (b) Voltage is generated intermittently.
NOTE: The generated voltage is extremely low.
    1. NG: Replace the speed sensor (NT) (See  DIRECT CLUTCH SPEED SENSOR  ).
    2. OK: Go to next step
  2. Check harness and connector between ECM and speed sensor (NT).

    PREPARATION:

    1. Connect the speed sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance between NT+ and NT- of the ECM connector.

    OK:

    1. Resistance: 560 to 680 Ω at 20 C (68 F)

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance between body ground and NT+, and body ground and NT- of the ECM connector respectively.

    OK:

    1. Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG: Repair or replace the harness or connector (  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
    2. OK: Replace the ECM.
