Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Check other DTCs output (in addition to DTC P0711) 

    PREPARATION:

    1. Warm up the engine.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.
    3. Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    5. Push the "ON" button of the OBD II scan tool or the hand-held tester.
    6. Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES".

    CHECK:

    Read the DTCs using the OBD II scan tool or the hand-held tester.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    Display (DTC output) Proceed to
    Only "P0711" is output A
    "P0711" and other DTCs B
    NOTE: If any other codes besides "P0711" is output, perform the troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
    1. B Go to relevant DTC chart (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ). 
    2. A: Go to next step 
  2. Check transaxle fluid level (See  PRE-CHECK  ). 
    1. NG: Add fluid (See  PRE-CHECK  ). 
    2. OK: Go to next step 
  3. Check transmission wire (ATF temperature sensor) 

    PREPARATION:

    Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    CHECK:

    Measure the resistance between terminals OT and E2.

    OK:

    NOTE: Refer to the value(s) in the table below, for resistance value change according to the ATF oil temperature.
    ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

    Temperature: °C (°F) Resistance: kΩ
    10 (50) 6.4
    110(230) 0.2

    CHECK:

    Measure the resistance between terminals body ground and OT, and body ground and E2 of the transmission wire connector respectively.

    OK:

    Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher 

    1. NG: Replace the transmission wire (ATF temperature sensor) (  ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR  ). 
    2. OK: Replace the ECM.
