Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
If DTCs that are related to different systems are output simultaneously while terminal E2 is used as a ground terminal, terminal E2 may have an open circuit.
- Connect OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester, and read value of ATF temperature
PREPARATION:
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Push the "ON" button of the OBD II scan tool or the hand-held tester.
- Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST".
- According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST".
CHECK:
Read the ATF temperature.
OK:

- NG : Go to next step
- Check transmission wire (ATF temperature sensor).
PREPARATION:
Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
CHECK:
Measure the resistance between terminals OT and E2 of the transmission wire connector.

OK:
- Resistance: 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
NOTE: Refer to the value(s) in the table below for resistance value change according to the ATF temperature.ATF TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTemperature: °C (°F) Resistance: kΩ 10 (50) 6.4 110 (230) 0.2 CHECK:
Measure the resistance between terminals body ground and OT, and body ground and E2 of the transmission wire connector respectively.
OK:
- Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: Replace the transmission wire (ATF temperature sensor) (See ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR ).
- OK: Go to next step
- Check harness and connector between ATF temperature sensor and ECM.
PREPARATION:
- Connect the transmission wire connector to the transaxle.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
CHECK:
Measure the resistance between terminals OIL and E2 of the ECM connector.

OK:
- Resistance: 79 Ω to 156 kΩ
CHECK:
Measure the resistance between terminals body ground and OIL, and body ground and E2 of the ECM connector respectively.
OK:
- Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: Repair or replace the harness or connector ( HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- OK: Replace the ECM.
