Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
In case of using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and in case of not using hand-held tester, start from step 2.
- Connect OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester, and check park/neutral position switch signal.
PREPARATION:
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Push the "ON" button of the OBD II scan tool or the hand-held tester.
- Select the item "DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST.
- According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST".
CHECK:
Read the park/neutral position switch signal.
OK:

- OK: Check for intermittent problem (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- NG : Go to next step
- Check park/neutral position switch.

PREPARATION:
Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
CHECK:
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is adjusted into each position.
OK:
PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONShift Position Tester Connection Specified Condition P 1-3 and 6-9 Below 1 Ω Except P 1-3 and 6-9 10 kΩ or higher R 2-3 Below 1 Ω Except R 2-3 10 kΩ or higher N 3-5 and 6-9 Below 1 Ω Except N 3-5 and 6-9 10 kΩ or higher D 3-7 Below 1 Ω Except D 3-7 10 kΩ or higher 2 3-4 Below 1 Ω Except 2 3-4 10 kΩ or higher L 3-8 Below 1 Ω Except L 3-8 10 kΩ or higher - NG: Replace the park/neutral position switch (See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION (PNP) SWITCH ).
- OK: Go to next step
- Check harness and connector between ECM and park/neutral position switch.

- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
CHECK:
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift position is adjusted into each position.
OK:

- OK: Replace the ECM.
