Brakes - Abs (Diagnostics): Pre-Check
- DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
- Check the indicator.
When the ignition switch is turned ON, check that the ABS warning light on the instrument panel goes on for approx. 3 seconds.
NOTE: If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting for the ABS warning light circuit (See ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT ). - In case of not using TOYOTA hand-held tester: Check the DTC.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of DLC3. SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Read the DTC from the ABS warning light on the combination meter.NOTE:
- If no code appears, inspect the diagnostic circuit or ABS warning light circuit (See TC TERMINAL CIRCUIT or ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT ).
- As an example, the blinking patterns for normal code and codes 11 are shown on the left.
- Even if 2 or more malfunctions are detected, the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed.
- Codes are explained in the code table on page ##DI-427.
- After completing the check, disconnect terminals TC and CG, and turn off the ignition switch.
- In case of using TOYOTA hand-held tester: Check the DTC.
- Hook up the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen. Please refer to the Toyota hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- In case of not using TOYOTA hand-held tester: Clear the DTC.
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of DLC3. SST 09843-18040
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Clear the DTC stored in ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 or more times within 5 seconds.
- Check that the warning light shows the normal code.
- Remove the SST from the terminals of DLC3. SST 09843-18040

- In case of using TOYOTA hand-held tester: Clear the DTC.
- Hook up the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Operate the Toyota hand-held tester to erase code (See Toyota hand-held tester operator's manual).
- Check the indicator.
- SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK (TEST MODE)
- Hook up the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Start the engine.
- Drive vehicle faster than 45 km/h (28 mph) for several seconds.NOTE: There is a case that the sensor check is not completed if the vehicle has its wheels spined or its steering wheel steered during this check.
- Read the DTC, from TOYOTA hand-held tester screen.
