On-Vehicle Inspection
- INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING
- Remove the front wheel.
- Separate the front disc brake caliper assy (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the front disc.
- Inspect the bearing looseness.
- Set a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the looseness in the bearing shaft direction.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the front axle hub bearing.
- Set a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the looseness in the bearing shaft direction.
- Inspect the axle hub runout.
- Using a dial indicator, check the runout at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the front axle hub sub-assy.
- Using a dial indicator, check the runout at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
- Install the front disc.
- Install the front disc brake caliper assy (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the front wheel.
Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
- INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Remove rear brake drum sub-assy (Rear brake drum type).
- Separate the rear disc brake caliper assy (Rear disc brake type) (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the rear disc (Rear disc brake type).
- Inspect the bearing looseness.
- Set a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the looseness in the bearing shaft direction.
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub & bearing assy.
- Inspect the axle hub runout.
- Using a dial indicator, check the runout at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
Maximum: 0.07 mm (0.0028 in.)
If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub & bearing assy.
- Install the rear disc (Rear disc brake type).
- Install the rear disc brake caliper assy (Rear disc brake type) (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the rear brake drum sub-assy (Rear brake drum type).
- Install the rear wheel.
Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
