Inspection Procedure

WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
2. Select the "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light by the hand-held tester.
   ACTIVE TEST

3. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.

   OK: The ABS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the hand-held tester. 

WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

1. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
2. Ground terminal WA of the skid control ECU.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
4. Check the ABS warning light.

   OK: 

   WA - GND CONDITION AND ILLUMINATION CONDITION
   
   

   WA - GND Condition	Illumination Condition
   Connected	OFF
   Disconnected	ON

1. NG: Go to step 2 
2. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and combination meter connector.
2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCE  .

   Standard: 

   SKID CONTROL ECU AND COMBINATION METER TERMINALS RESISTANCE
   
   

   Tester Connection	Specified Condition
   C9-37 - S1-17 (WA)	Below 1 Ω

3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCE  .

   Standard: 

   SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL AND BODY GROUND RESISTANCE
   
   

   Tester Connection	Specified Condition
   S1-17 (WA) - Body ground	10 kΩ or higher

1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 

1. Check combination meter assy (see COMBINATION METER ).

1. NG: CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
2. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
