Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (See OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
  4. REMOVE THE FRONT SEAT INNER SHIELD (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
    1. Remove the nut and front seat inner belt.
  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the floor anchor cover.
    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt assembly RH (floor anchor side).
    3. Using a screwdriver, remove the shoulder anchor cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Remove the bolt and front seat outer belt (shoulder anchor side).

      CAUTION:
      • Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
      • Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system and front seat outer belt assembly.
    5. Disconnect the connector and remove the bolt.

  11. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  12. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.
  13. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Install the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

  14. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    1. Check the degree of tilt when beginning to lock the ELR.
      1. Check that the belt will not lock within 15 °C of tilt in all the direction but the belt will lock over 45 °C of tilt when moving the installed retractor gently.

      If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

    2. Install the retractor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 

      4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in..lbf) (upper part of retractor) 

      41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) (lower part of retractor) 

    3. Install the shoulder anchor with the bolt.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the seat belt anchor cover.
    5. Install the floor anchor with the bolt. Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
    6. Install the floor anchor cover.
    7. Check the ELR.
      NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt assy installed.
      1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.

    If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

  15. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Install the front seat inner belt RH with the nut.

      Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
