Air Bag Sensor ASSY Center: Replacement

  1. PRECAUTION (see  SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE) (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE) (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  7. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE RR CONSOLE BOX (see  REPLACEMENT  )

  9. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Disconnect the holder (with connectors) from the airbag sensor assy center.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assy center.
  10. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
    3. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assy center with the 3 bolts.
      NOTE:
      • If the airbag sensor assy center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the airbag sensor assy center, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

      Torque: 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

    5. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor assy center.
    6. Connect the holder (with connectors) to the airbag sensor assy center.
    7. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.
  11. INSTALL RR CONSOLE BOX (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  12. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  13. INSTALL CONSOLE PANEL UPPER (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  14. INSTALL SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE) (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  15. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY (MANUAL TRANSAXLE) (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  16. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY (see  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  17. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  18. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
