Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
  1. INSPECT VSC WARNING LIGHT 

    WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
    2. Select the "VSC WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the VSC warning light on the hand-held tester.
      ACTIVE TEST

      Item Vehicle Condition/Test Details Diagnostic Note
      VSC WARN LIGHT Turns VSC warning light ON / OFF Observe combination meter
    3. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC warning light are shown on the combination meter with the hand-held tester.

      OK: The VSC warning light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the hand-held tester. 

    WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.
    2. Ground terminal VSCW of the skid control ECU.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Check that the VSC warning light comes on.

      OK: The light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the connecting condition of terminals GND and VSCW.

    1. OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    NG: Go to Next Step. 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - SKID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1 and combination meter connector C8.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (1 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-36 (VSCW)-C8-14 Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION (2 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-36 (VSCW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
