Instrument Panel Air Bag ASSY Lower No.1: Replacement

PRECAUTION
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSY LOWER NO.1
1. Remove the 4 bolts and the instrument panel airbag assy lower No.1.
2. Disconnect the connector from the instrument panel airbag assy lower No.1.
  NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSY LOWER NO.1 (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSY LOWER NO.1
1. Connect the connector to the instrument panel airbag assy lower No.1.
  NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
2. Install the instrument panel airbag assy lower No.1 with the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE INITIALIZATION )
Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
