Air Bag Sensor Front: Replacement
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- PRECAUTION (SEE PRECAUTION )
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR FRONT
- Disconnect the connector from the airbag sensor front (LH).
- Remove the bolt and the airbag sensor front (LH).
- INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR FRONT
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
- Install the airbag sensor front (LH) with the bolt.
Torque: 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
NOTE:- If the airbag sensor front (LH) has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor front (LH), be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
- Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor front (LH).
- Connect the connector to the airbag sensor front (LH).
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE

)
Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
