Air Bag Sensor Front: Replacement

HINT:

  1. PRECAUTION (SEE  PRECAUTION  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.

  3. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  4. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR FRONT 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the airbag sensor front (LH).
    2. Remove the bolt and the airbag sensor front (LH).

  5. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR FRONT 
    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
      CAUTION: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
    3. Install the airbag sensor front (LH) with the bolt.

      Torque: 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • If the airbag sensor front (LH) has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the airbag sensor front (LH), be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
    4. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the airbag sensor front (LH).
    5. Connect the connector to the airbag sensor front (LH).
  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (SEE  INITIALIZATION  ) 

    Some systems need initialization when disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

  9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
