Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Tundra and 2005 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .
  1. Check stop light switch operation.

    CHECK:

Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and goes off when the brake pedal is released.

    OK:

    Stop light function is normal.

    HINT:

Check the stop light bulb as it may have burnt out.

    1. NG: Go to step   4 .
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage of the master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU STP terminal).

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S29.

    CHECK:

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK:

SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR S29 VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
S29-7 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 8 to 14V
S29-7 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released Below 1.5V
    1. NG: Repair or replace STP circuit.
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  3. Reconfirm DTC (See  DTC CHECK / CLEAR   ).

    PREPARATION:

    Clear the DTCs.

    CHECK:

Check if the same DTCs are detected.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    DTC is output A
    DTC is not output B
    1. B: END.
    2. A: Replace master cylinder solenoid (See  DISASSEMBLY  ).
  4. Inspect stop light switch (Stop light power source terminal voltage).

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect the stop light switch connector S4.

    CHECK:

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK:

    Access Cab., Standard Cab.:
