Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Tundra and 2005 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .
  1. Check for open or short circuit in harness and connector between each speed sensor and master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU).
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  2. Measure the voltage of the speed sensor.

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect speed sensor connectors A6, A7 and A19.

    CHECK:

    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK:

SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
A6-2 (FL) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 7.5 to 12V
A7-2 (FR) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 7.5 to 12V
A19-2 (RL) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 7.5 to 12V
A19-4 (RR) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 7.5 to 12V

    HINT:

If foreign matter is identified (also on the sensor rotor side), remove it. After reassembling, check the output waveform.

    1. NG: Replace master cylinder solenoid (See  DISASSEMBLY  ).
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  3. Reconfirm DTC (See  DTC CHECK / CLEAR   ).

    PREPARATION:

    1. Clear the DTCs.
    2. Drive the vehicle at more than 13 mph (20 km/h).

    CHECK:

Check if the same DTCs are detected.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    DTC is output A
    DTC is not output B
    1. B: END.
    2. A: Go to next step.
  4. Check sensor tip.

    Front:

    PREPARATION:

Remove the front speed sensor (see REMOVAL ).

    CHECK:

    Check the sensor tip.

    OK:

No scratches or foreign matter on the sensor tip.

    HINT:

If foreign matter is identified (also on the sensor rotor side), remove it. After reassembling, check the output waveform.

    Rear:

    PREPARATION:

Remove the rear speed sensor (see REMOVAL ).

    CHECK:

    Check the sensor tip.

    OK:

No scratches or foreign matter on the sensor tip.

    1. NG: Clean or replace speed sensor.
NOTE: Check the speed sensor signal after replacement (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE  ).
    2. OK: Clean or replace sensor rotor.
