Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Tundra and 2005 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .
  1. Check brake fluid level.

    CHECK:

Check the amount of fluid in the brake reservoir.

    OK:

    Brake fluid level is proper.

    1. NG: Check and repair brake fluid leakage and add fluid.
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  2. Check brake fluid level warning switch.

    PREPARATION:

Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector B2.

    CHECK:

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK:

BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING SWITCH CONNECTOR RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
B2-1 - B2-2 Float UP (Level warning switch OFF) 10 kΩ or higher (No Continuity)
B2-1 - B2-2 Float DOWN (Level warning switch ON) Below 1 Ω (Continuity)

    HINT:

    • A float is placed inside the reservoir. Its position can be changed by increasing/decreasing the level of brake fluid.
    • The warning switch is switched ON/OFF at +/- 5 mm from the MIN level.
    1. NG: Replace brake fluid reservoir.

      HINT:

After the step 2, adjust the brake fluid level to the maximum level.

    2. OK: Go to next step.
  3. Check harness and connector between brake fluid level warning switch and master cylinder solenoid (skid control ECU), brake fluid level warning switch and body ground.
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector.
    2. OK: Go to next step.
  4. Reconfirm DTC (See  DTC CHECK / CLEAR   ).

    PREPARATION:

    Clear the DTCs.

    CHECK:

Check if the same DTCs are detected.

    RESULT:

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    DTC is output A
    DTC is not output B
    1. B: END.
    2. A: Replace master cylinder solenoid (See  DISASSEMBLY  ).
