Power Back Door: Overhaul
NOTE:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- When the battery is reconnected, the back door is locked and therefore cannot be opened. Therefore, it is necessary to unlock the back door using the door control switch or transmitter switch.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE (See ROOF HEADLINING ASSY )
- REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSY FRONT LH (See ROOF HEADLINING ASSY )
- REMOVE RR WINDOW SIDE GARNISH ASSY NO. 2 LH (See ROOF HEADLINING ASSY )
- REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR ROD
- Remove the 2 clips and rod.
- REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
- Remove the 3 bolts and drive unit.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH CENTER
- Using a clip remover, disengage the 5 clips and remove the garnish.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH
- Using a clip remover, disengage the 3 clips and remove the side garnish.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH
- Using a clip remover, disengage the 3 clips and remove the side garnish.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY BRACKET UPPER LH
- Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR PULL STRAP
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the strap cover.NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the bolt and strap.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the strap cover.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSY
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 14 clips and remove the trim board.
NOTE: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. - REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Using a clip remover, remove the clip and touch sensor.
- REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Using a clip remover, remove the clip and touch sensor.
- REMOVE BACK-UP LAMP ASSY LH (See ANTENNA CORD )
- REMOVE BACK-UP LAMP ASSY RH (See ANTENNA CORD )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSY OUTSIDE (See BACK DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSY OUTSIDE )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR W/ MOTOR LOCK ASSY
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 4 bolts and lock.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR BASE STOPPER BRACKET
- Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR STOPPER LOWER
- Remove the 2 bolts and stopper.
- REMOVE REAR SPOILER COVER (See REAR SPOILER COVER )
- REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY SUB-ASSY LH (See COMPONENTS 12)
- REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY SUB-ASSY RH (See COMPONENTS 12)
- INSTALL BACK DOOR STOPPER LOWER
- Install the 2 stoppers with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)
- Install the 2 stoppers with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL BACK DOOR BASE STOPPER BRACKET
- Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)
- Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL BACK DOOR W/ MOTOR LOCK ASSY
- Install the lock with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 12.5 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
- Reset the lock (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
- Install the lock with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH
- Install the touch sensor with the clip.
- Using a Torx driver (T25), tighten the 4 screws.
- INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH
- Install the touch sensor with the clip.
- Using a Torx driver (T25), tighten the 4 screws.
- INSTALL BACK DOOR PULL STRAP
- Install the pull strap with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 42 in.lbf)
- Install the cover.
- Install the pull strap with the bolt.
- INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY BRACKET UPPER LH
- Install the bracket upper with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 12.5 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
- Install the bracket upper with the 2 bolts.
- INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
- Install the drive unit with the 3 bolt.
Torque: 12.5 N.m (112 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
- Reset the drive unit (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
- Install the drive unit with the 3 bolt.
