Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SL2) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the transaxle.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition 20°C (68°F)
      4 (SL2+) - 9 (SL2-) 5.0 to 5.6Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard (Check for short): 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      4 (SL2+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      9 (SL2-) - Body ground uarr
    1. NG: Go to step   3 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission connector to the transaxle.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the ECM.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Condition Specified Connection 20°C (68°F)
      E8-15 (SL2+) - E8-14 (SL2-) 5.0 to 5.6Ω

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard (Check for short):

    1. NG: repair or replace harness or connector (See  ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
    2. OK: REPLACE ECM (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  3. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE (SL2) 
    1. Remove the shift solenoid valve SL2.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition 20°C (68°F)
      1 - 2 5.0 to 5.6Ω

    3. Connect the positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector, then check the movement of the valve.

      OK: The solenoid makes an operating noise. 

    1. NG: REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE (SL2) 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE (See  REPLACEMENT  )
