Spiral Cable: Removal

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL . Remove lower finish panel assembly. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Remove 4 screws and spiral cable from combination switch.

WARNING: Operating vehicle with improperly centered spiral cable may damage clockspring, and in the event of collision, cause air bag deployment malfunction. Personal injury may result. If spiral cable rotor has moved or if unsure of rotor position, perform spiral cable centering procedure. See SPIRAL CABLE CENTERING  under ADJUSTMENTS.
