Side Air Bag Module: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove appropriate front seat track rear covers. Remove front seat anchor bolts. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove front seat. See Figure. Disconnect side air bag module connector and remove seat.
  2. Remove headrest, reclining adjuster release handle, front seat cushion and inner front seat cushion shield. Fold seat back forward and remove side air bag wire harness from wire harness protector. Remove hog rings from bottom of seat back. Remove 4 bolts and seat back assembly.
  3. Fold seat back cover up and remove hook from seat back frame. Remove 2 hog rings. Remove headrest supports. Remove seat back frame from seat back cover. Remove 2 nuts and remove side air bag module.
