Inspection & Overhaul

- Install 2 nuts and a bolt to the bracket at the lower side of the shock absorber assembly front and secure it in a vise. See Fig 1.
- Remove the front suspension support dust cover from the front suspension support sub-assembly. Using SST, compress the front coil spring, Special Tool (09727-30021).NOTE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
- Using SST to hold the front coil spring seat upper, remove the nut.
- Remove the front suspension support sub-assembly, front suspension support dust seal, front coil spring seat upper, front coil spring insulator upper, front coil spring, front spring bumper and front coil spring insulator lower.
- Compress and extend the shock absorber rod and check that there is no abnormal resistance or unusual sound during operation. If there is any abnormality, replace the shock absorber with a new one.
- Install the front coil spring insulator lower onto the front shock absorber assembly. See Fig 2. Install the front spring bumper to the shock absorber piston rod.
- Using SST, compress the front coil spring, Special Tool (09727-30021).
- Install the front coil spring to the shock absorber assembly front. Fit the lower end of the front coil spring into the gap of the spring lower seat. Install the front coil spring insulator upper. See Fig 2.
- Install the front coil spring seat upper to the shock absorber assembly front with the mark facing the outside of the vehicle. Install the front suspension support dust seal and front suspension support sub-assembly. See Fig 2.
- Using SST to hold the front coil spring seat upper, install a new nut, Special Tool (09729-22031). Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove the SST. Install the front suspension support dust cover. Apply MP grease No. 2 into the suspension support sub-assembly.
CAUTION:
When disposing of the shock absorber, see DISPOSAL .
NOTE:
Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
CAUTION:
Do not touch grease on rubber surface of upper support.
