Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK PTC 
    1. Is DTC output for ABS and VSC?
      Diagnostic Trouble Codes OUTPUT CHART

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B
    1. B: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  2. INSPECT CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  3. INSPECT BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      Battery terminal ((+) - ((-)) 11 to 14 V
    1. NG: INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM (See  REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL) 

    WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
    4. Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.
      MEASUREMENT ITEM / RANGE (DISPLAY) CHART

      Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition
      IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage / TOO LOW / NORMAL NORMAL: 9.5 V or over UNDER: Below 9.5 V

      OK: "Normal" is displayed. 

    WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-46 (IG1) - S27-32 (GND) 11 to 14 V

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and combination meter connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C12-7-S27-36 (VSCW) Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-36 (VSCW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      SPECIFICATION TESTER CONNECTION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S27-32 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  )
